General information
"All about recovery centers...the basics"
|
There are many different addictive drugs. There are also many different kinds of drug rehab centers. A drug rehab is a place or program that an individual enters in order to treat a drug or alcohol addiction problem. Through therapy and education, individuals are rehabilitated using various treatment methods which enable them to lead a productive and drug free life. This is the goal of The Ocean Rehab.
There are many reasons why a person would need to attend a drug rehabilitation program. A few of the many reasons are:
>the inability to control drinking alcohol or drug use
>alienating their friends and family
>legal problems
>severe depression
>general unhappiness
due to excessive drug or alcohol use.
There are many different types of drug rehab programs available: in patient, outpatient, residential, short-term, and long-term. The initial step is usually drug detoxification. Drug detox includes medical supervision for drug addiction and alcoholism and is just one phase of the recovery process and is done in order to overcome the physical withdrawal symptoms. The psychological problems as well as cravings must be dealt with after detox which is when a drug rehab program specifically tailored to the individual's specific needs is the next step in recovery. The Ocean Rehab is such a program.

Scientific research has shown that the length of time an individual participates in the addiction treatment process is a critical factor. Typical treatment duration includes: short-term treatment programs (28 days) and Longer term treatment centers (12 weeks or longer). The length of time required to rehabilitate an individual is determined by the level and duration of drug or alcohol abuse as well as several psychological factors. The Ocean Rehab offers clients the opportunity to stay for 4 weeks or longer.
Individual's with a long history of abuse, normally require a longer term drug rehab in order to increase the chances of a successful outcome. Individual's with a brief history may find success by entering a short-term treatment program or out patient drug counseling. We would be glad to assist you in this assessment process. If you are not appropriate for The Ocean Rehab we may be able to suggest an alternative.
We currently offer treatment lengths of 28 days and longer. In addition to the duration of treatment, the type of drug rehab facility is an important factor as well. There are many different treatment modalities: therapeutic communities, residential treatment centers, Twelve Step, Drug Treatment, Sober Living, Drug Counseling, Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, AA, NA, Narconon, and many more.
The importance of correctly diagnosing the individual and selecting the appropriate type of treatment option should not be underestimated as this may be the difference between success and failure in the recovery process.
When choosing which type of drug rehab treatment modality is correct for an individual there are a number of factors to consider.
Consider the duration and intensity of the individual's drug or alcohol abuse and the potential behaviors connected with the abuser i.e. stealing, lying, violence, depression to name a few.
Is the individual ready and willing to admit they have a problem and need help? If not will an intervention done by family members with the assistance of an intervention specialist can be helpful.
After care is an essential step in the recovery process and is often overlooked by many addiction treatment programs. In general, the more treatment received, the greater the results. Drug and alcohol abusers who remain in treatment 12 weeks or longer typically have greater success than those who receive less treatment.
- Addicted individuals who undergo medically assisted drug or alcohol detox but do not receive any further treatment, perform about the same in terms of their drug or alcohol use as those who were never treated at all.

Over the last 25 years, studies have shown that drug rehab treatment is very effective in reducing or eliminating drug and alcohol intake. Researchers also have found that drug abusers who have been through a treatment program are more likely to have greater general stability in all aspects of life i.e. family, work, accomplishing personal goals etc.
Residential programs usually begin with a thorough assessment and evaluation process that continues throughout the first week of a patient's stay. Treatment consists of many structured activities designed to help a patient heal. At "The Ocean" we make a special effort to concentrate on many important areas and life skills in particular to prevent relapse.
These include peer interaction, individual counseling, group therapy and, based on individual needs, may involve specialty groups such as relapse prevention, anger, eating issues, cognitive behavioral therapy, women's issues, men's issues, gender issues, assertiveness, Twelve Step-like group study, family issues and similar special topics.
Drug addiction is diagnosable and treatable. It is usually a primary problem that is progressive in nature but which can be interrupted to allow recovery to happen. That is, that the drug or alcohol problem is the main focus instead of assuming a psychiatric diagnosis all the time. Based upon your initial assessment, The Ocean Rehab develops a specific treatment program for your personal needs. Special attention is given to ensure the best treatment method for each individual.
The Ocean Rehab works well for those who:
- Cannot stop using drugs or alcohol without supervision.
- Has continued to use chemicals despite knowing of negative health or social consequences.
- Demonstrates substance induced adverse behaviors which interferes with life activities. (i.e. divorce/ marital/relationship problems, criminal behavior)
- Continues to use drugs or alcohol despite previous treatment attempts.
- Have chronic relapses.
- Are motivated in their recovery and are willing to "do what is necessary".
- Have developed psychiatric problems secondary to substance abuse.
- Have primary psychiatric problems with substance abuse as a symptom.
